Job summary

Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta is seeking a Part-Time Production Technician (Level I) to assist in daily operation and maintenance of lighting, electrics and production for theatre and guest events. The role includes operating a follow spot and supporting all production departments.

You will participate in load-ins, rehearsals, and events, train new staff on show operations, and help with basic video, audio, and stage tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in live entertainment and theatrical/special event production.
• Basic knowledge of live entertainment and show operations.
• Knowledge of lighting systems: conventional and automated lights, follow spots, lighting computers.
• Experience with electrical and low voltage systems.
• Experience with audio, special effects and camera/video systems is a plus.
• Strong office skills: MS Word and MS Excel.
• Able to kneel, lift and carry heavy equipment; work in heights and confined spaces.
• Ability to swim.
• Creative thinking and troubleshooting.
• Professional appearance and motivation.
• Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation and maintenance of lighting/electrics production.
• Operate a follow spot for presentations, rehearsals and events.
• Support other production departments as needed.
• Operate as a Stagehand/Production Assistant.
• Participate in load-ins, turn-arounds and strikes.
• Assist with training of new personnel on follow spot and show operations.
• Perform incidental tasks including cleaning and inspection of scenery and lighting areas.
• Cross-train into other daily operational roles.
• Perform tasks as workload necessitates, including administrative or technical support.
• Assist with Venue / House Management tasks.
