Job summary

Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads is seeking a part-time Operation Little Learners Facilitator (CYP) to support scheduled programs and activities for adults and children. The role requires following a curriculum, delivering engaging activities, and providing feedback on curriculum effectiveness.

The position emphasizes customer service, safety, and adherence to ASYMCA policies. Background checks and CPR/First Aid certification are required or must be obtained within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Experience with children: 2 years (preferred).
• Background, Drug & TB Check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing the needs of military personnel and families.
• Promote ASYMCA programs and events to members and the community while motivating them to try new activities.
• Provide enriching activities and continuously engage learners to enhance learning.
• Maintain 100% safety in all programming areas; supervise children during classes.
• Adhere to Participant Registration Packet and ASYMCA handbook.
• Perform daily health checks on children and report suspected abuse or neglect.
• Document accidents and ensure forms are properly completed.
• Keep First Aid kit stocked and accessible.
• Prepare for programs, ensuring supplies are available and documenting participation.
• Assist in keeping supplies clean, organized, and available; notify Director when running low.
• Organize paperwork and maintain confidentiality; submit to Director neatly.
• Welcome new participants by explaining programs and ASYMCA information; assist with registrations.
• Attend meetings and trainings; stay updated on CPR/First Aid renewals and ASYMCA policies.
• Submit time off requests and timesheets on time; arrange substitutes as needed.
• Resolve participant issues professionally with CYP Director guidance.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
