Job summary

Omega Community Development Corporation’s Literacy Support Specialist at Fairview Elementary School delivers targeted literacy interventions using a multi-sensory approach in small groups or one-on-one settings, partnering with classroom teachers and Omega CDC staff to boost student proficiency and confidence.

Ideal candidates include retired teachers, paraprofessionals, tutors, or those with prior experience working with children. Hours are limited to 20 per week, Monday–Friday, 7:30am–11:30am.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google suites required.
• Associates degree in education or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with evidence-based literacy instruction strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver literacy intervention sessions in small groups or one-on-one.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and the Hope Zone Literacy Support Supervisor to support student learning goals.
• Track student participation, progress, and outcomes, maintaining accurate records of service delivery.
• Adapt instructional approaches to meet individual student needs while maintaining fidelity to the curriculum.
• Provide feedback to school staff and Omega CDC leadership regarding student progress and program effectiveness.
• Participate in training and professional development to strengthen instructional practices.
• Maintain a positive, supportive environment for students.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
