Job summary

El Capitan Hotel Merced is seeking a Part-Time Line Cook to support our hospitality team in Merced, California. You will inspect prep and serving areas for safety, prepare and cook dishes to consistency, and assist with guest dietary needs while maintaining high sanitation standards.

The role requires state-issued food handling certification and related culinary experience. You will read and follow recipes, monitor temperatures, and contribute to a smooth kitchen operation in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• State-issued food handling certification is required.
• Related experience in culinary or hospitality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe, sanitary handling practices.
• Prepare, season, and cook dishes promptly and consistently per recipes and procedures.
• Assist guests with dietary restrictions and allergies as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes.
• Store food properly to prevent spoilage and waste.
• Transport food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
• Assist in restocking and replenishing supplies.
• Test and monitor food doneness using tasting, temperature checks, or piercing utensils.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes with kitchen tools.
• Portion, arrange, and garnish plated dishes.
• Regulate oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures.
• Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase supplies as directed.
