Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York in Brooklyn's Coney Island branch is seeking Lifeguards to maintain safe conditions around the pool area. The role emphasizes a positive, safety‑first environment in line with YMCA aquatics standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.
• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent required.
• Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Must be Rescue Ready: uniform, pocket face mask/gloves, whistle, and rescue tube.
• Continuous and active scanning of the pool.
• Attend mandatory in-service training monthly.
• Enforce aquatics safety rules consistently.
• When not lifeguarding, perform secondary duties like cleaning or testing chemicals.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
