Job summary

The Greenpoint YMCA in Brooklyn is hiring part-time Lifeguards to maintain safe pool conditions and promote a positive, inclusive environment for members.

Responsibilities include enforcing safety rules, attending monthly trainings, and assisting instructors as needed. Candidates must be Rescue Ready, hold current lifeguard and medical certifications, and be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must hold current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
• Demonstrate swim strokes, lifeguard rescues, and BLS/BFA/EO skills.
• Must be Rescue Ready and maintain certification readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe conditions in and around the pool area.
• Enforce aquatics safety rules consistently and fairly.
• Attend mandatory in-service training monthly.
• Assist instructors and perform duties as needed (cleanup, equipment testing).
• Build positive relationships with members and staff and respond calmly to incidents.
