YMCA of Greater New York is seeking dedicated Lifeguards to maintain safe conditions in and around the pool at our Staten Island South Shore branch. You will promote a positive, safe environment in line with YMCA policies and LEAP framework, supporting youth and the community.

Responsibilities include proactive scanning, enforcing rules, and maintaining readiness through certifications. Must obtain YMCA Lifeguard certification within 90 days and keep certifications current; training and events

Qualifications

• Must have YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid.
• Emergency Oxygen certification if required by cert body.
• Demonstrate swim strokes and lifesaving rescues.
• Excellent hospitality and customer service skills.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.

Responsabilités

• Must be Rescue Ready with proper gear and constant pool surveillance.
• Enforce aquatic safety rules per YMCA standards and action plans.
• Perform secondary duties when not lifeguarding and maintain positive relations with members.
• Follow direction of Aquatic Supervisors and adhere to safety protocols.
