Job summary

HealthFitness is seeking a part‑time Lifeguard to join the aquatics team at our premier client site in West Hartford, Connecticut. You will help create a safe and welcoming aquatic environment while supporting the health and well-being of our client community.

The role requires American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification, a minimum age of 16, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; working knowledge of the member management system.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond appropriately to any emergency.
• Perform chemical testing and document results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
• Attend all required staff meetings and training.
• Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels, cleaning, filling water machines, and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure a safe environment for members.
• Maintain a professional attitude.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.
