Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Junior Lifeguard for the Cecil Pruett Community Center in Canton, GA. This part-time role supports active pool surveillance, enforces safety rules, and responds to emergencies in line with YMCA policies.

Qualifications include minimum age 15, current Lifeguard Certification, and BLS/CPR/AED/first aid training. Additional trainings occur within the first week, with a focus on preparedness and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15.
• Current Lifeguard Certification.
• BLS/CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration training.
• Additional trainings as assigned within first week.
• Ability to maintain certification-level readiness.
• Demonstrate lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the lifeguard in maintaining active surveillance of the pool area.
• Know and review all emergency procedures and respond immediately per YMCA policies.
• Maintain safety rules for the pool and aquatic area.
• Remain calm under pressure and assist others as needed.
• Maintain accurate records as required by YMCA/state health department code.
• Assist with equipment checks and ensure available equipment.
• Check the pool for hazards when arriving; assist with chemical testing when not guarding.

Education

Lifeguard certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED

First aid

Emergency oxygen administration
