Job summary

Butler YMCA in Butler, PA is seeking a Lifeguard (Opener) for a regular part-time schedule. The role involves maintaining safe swimming conditions, supervising the pool, and ensuring member safety in line with YMCA policies.

Required are a minimum 18 years of age, lifeguard certification with CPR/AED and First Aid, and Oxygen administration within 30 days. The position offers a morning shift, and benefits include free YMCA membership and program discounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18; required.
• Lifeguard certification (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid; required.
• Oxygen administration certification within 30 days of employment; required.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool areas and surrounding spaces.
• Review emergency procedures and respond immediately per YMCA policies.
• Foster positive relationships with members, participants and staff.
• Apply safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic areas.
• Maintain required records and complete incident reports as needed.
• Perform equipment checks and ensure availability of necessary tools.
• Follow YMCA emergency, medical, and disciplinary procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
