Job summary

The Middleton Public Library in Middleton, WI is seeking a part-time Library Assistant (24 hours per week) to join our Adult Services team. This role focuses on programming, collection development, and publicity, and requires creativity, collaboration, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include delivering reference assistance, managing circulation, supporting daily operations, helping patrons with technology, and assisting with programs and outreach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year in public library services or related field.
• Access to transportation for job duties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional customer service, assisting with reference questions, program info, and library resources.
• Manage circulation services, registering new cardholders, updating accounts, processing holds, and collecting fines.
• Support daily operations, including opening/closing procedures, room reservations, collection maintenance, and ensuring a safe environment.
• Help patrons with technology needs, such as computers, photocopiers, and personal devices.
• Assist with library programs, outreach, promotional materials, and assigned projects.
• Participate in library committees and initiatives.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
