Job summary

Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook, IL is seeking a part-time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe environment for patrons and staff. The 19-hour schedule includes day, evening and weekend shifts with a starting hourly wage of $18.92 and a pay range up to $29.71.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, furniture and windows; perform maintenance tasks; assist with deliveries; ensure facilities and grounds are safe and well-kept; interact professionally with patrons and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in building maintenance and repair.
• Requires knowledge typically acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
• Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Speaking skills in other languages, particularly Spanish, is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety, construction and maintenance of public facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides consistent, gracious and friendly service to internal and external customers.
• Performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance tasks for the upkeep and cleaning of library building, equipment, and grounds.
• Conducts the general cleaning of the library including dusting, vacuuming, restrooms, floors, furniture, windows and other areas.
• Completes special cleaning projects as assigned.
• Responds to all maintenance issues in a timely manner.
• Interacts with users in a positive and professional manner, assist and provide information and directions.
