Job summary

Illinois is seeking a part-time custodian to ensure a clean, safe library environment. You will sweep, mop, dust, and maintain restrooms, assist with meetings, and deliver packages while keeping supply areas organized.

The role requires the ability to work independently or with a team and to perform minor repairs as needed. The position offers evening shifts (Tuesday–Friday, 4pm–9pm) with a 20-hour work week, plus PTO, sick leave, vacation time, and IMRF participation for eligible hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year custodial experience.
• Ability to use basic hand tools for minor plumbing and repairs.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub floors; clean and restock restrooms.
• Maintain janitor closet in order.
• Keep inventory of materials used.
• Complete work requests and projects.
• Walk facility to check safety; report issues.
• Set up and break down meeting rooms.
• Deliver packages to departments.
• Perform book drops as needed.
• Assist with Interlibrary Loan bins.
• Picks up litter on grounds; clean surfaces.
• Facility upkeep including lighting, painting, furniture assembly.
• Ensure safety during inclement weather; shovel and salt.
• Perform minor repairs; operate equipment safely.
• Adhere to safety measures for cleaning and lifting.
