Job summary

Bristol Community College is seeking a Library Assistant I (Part-Time) to provide front-line support across one or more Library Learning Commons locations, including Fall River and New Bedford campuses. The role involves circulation, patron assistance, and basic tech support for library services.

Evenings and weekends may be required; hours are a minimum of 8 per week and could extend to 18.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and/or symbols.
• Assemble items of information according to established procedures.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in the workplace.
• Handle interactions with tact and professionalism.
• Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Maintain a consistent work schedule.
• Work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials and assist at the public service desk.
• Assist patrons with printing and basic library services.
• Monitor LLC chat and email accounts and provide accurate information.
• Help students find tutoring services and make tutoring appointments.
• Perform inventory and shelf-reading tasks.
• Support patrons with library tech (copiers, printers, scanners).
• Provide customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
