Job summary

Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, NJ is seeking a friendly Part-time Circulation Associate to support patrons with checkouts, holds, and basic library technology.

You will register new patrons, manage records, assist with shelving, answer phones, and help with interlibrary loan and readers advisory. Schedule is about 14 hours weekly: Mondays 3:00–9:00, Saturdays 9:00–5:00, and rotating Sundays 11:30–4:00 (summer hours 9:00–2:00). Wages start at $16.50/hour; Sundays time-and-a-half.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic proficiency with computers and common software applications.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous and professional assistance to patrons, addressing questions and concerns.
• Register new library users and maintain accurate patron records.
• Check materials in and out, place holds, and process renewals.
• Assist with shelving and maintaining the organization of the collection.
• Prepare and manage interlibrary loan materials.
• Help patrons use library technology, including computers, printers, and copiers.
• Offer basic readers advisory and respond to directional and reference inquiries.
• Answer phones and support general administrative tasks.
• Perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling materials.
