Job summary

Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, NJ is seeking a friendly Part-time Circulation Associate to support patrons with checkouts, holds, and basic library technology.

You will register new patrons, manage records, assist with shelving, answer phones, and help with interlibrary loan and readers advisory. Schedule is about 14 hours weekly: Mondays 3:00–9:00, Saturdays 9:00–5:00, and rotating Sundays 11:30–4:00 (summer hours 9:00–2:00). Wages start at $16.50/hour; Sundays time-and-a-half.

PART-TIME LIBRARY CIRCULATION ASSOCIATE

Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, NJ is seeking a friendly and customer-focused individual to join our team in the role of Part-time Circulation Associate.

The Circulation Associate plays a key role in providing excellent customer service to library patrons. The ideal candidate is approachable, detail-oriented, comfortable using technology, with a willingness to work as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide courteous and professional assistance to patrons, addressing questions and concerns
-Register new library users and maintain accurate patron records
-Check materials in and out, place holds, and process renewals
-Assist with shelving and maintaining the organization of the collection
-Prepare and manage interlibrary loan materials
-Help patrons use library technology, including computers, printers, and copiers
-Offer basic readers advisory and respond to directional and reference inquiries
-Answer phones and support general administrative tasks
-Perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling materials

Qualifications

-Previous experience with BCCLS or in a library setting is a plus, but not required

Schedule

-Approximately 14 hours per week
-Mondays: 3:00-9:00, and Saturdays: 9:00 - 5:00 (Summer Hours 9:00-2:00)
-Rotating Sundays:
Sundays: 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM (approximately once every 4 weeks)
Note: The library is closed on Sundays from late June through Labor Day

WAGES: $16.50 per hour (or more with experience) Sundays are paid at time and a half.
