Job summary

Campbell County Library in Wyoming is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support circulation, patron services, and records management. The 24-hour per week position emphasizes accurate handling of materials and responsive service.

Responsibilities include processing cash transactions, ILL support, and using the automated circulation system, with opportunities for professional growth within a community-focused library setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant college-level coursework or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a library setting
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities

Responsibilities

• Provides patrons with excellent customer service both in person and by phone.
• Circulates library materials using charge, discharge, fine, and renewal function of the automated circulation system.
• Adds, deletes, and maintains patron records using the automated circulation system.
• Processes daily cash transactions, including payments for lost, damaged, and overdue materials.
• Reviews new adult fiction materials and services in print, nonprint, and electronic formats. Recommends acquisition of materials for collection development and service enhancements.
• Reserves and circulates audiovisual equipment using applicable software and the automated circulation system.
• Evaluates books, equipment, audiovisual, and other materials for damage, general condition, and cleanliness after each use.
• Provides Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services using a variety of specialized software and the automated circulation system.
• Maintains a database of delinquent accounts. Generates reports and works closely with a collection recovery service to maintain accurate patron financial records.
• Compiles circulation, patron registration, and library use statistics using automated circulation system statistical reports and spreadsheet software.
• Guides patrons in making effective use of library facilities and materials. Advises on library regulations and procedures.
• Creates attractive seasonal and/or informational displays and bulletin boards.
• Performs related duties as required.
