Job summary

Fountaindale Public Library District in Will County seeks a part-time library assistant specializing in cataloging and technical services. You will perform copy cataloging of print and AV materials, classify items, and maintain genres to optimize access and discovery for patrons.

You will coordinate with supervisors, assist with periodical processing, and contribute to database maintenance and documentation. Weekend/evening flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: LA/LTA certification or equivalent library experience.
• Experience: 1 year cataloging experience preferred; public library desirable.
• Language: English proficiency; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs copy cataloging of print and AV materials according to standards.
• Classifies materials and maintains genres for fiction, movies, and music.
• Coordinates with supervisors to ensure timely processing of materials.
• Checks in periodicals and processes magazines/newspapers for circulation.
• Performs special cataloging projects and database maintenance.
• Assists with processing and repair of library materials when needed.
• Provides backup for interlibrary loan as assigned.
• Maintains procedural documentation and monthly activity reports.
