Job summary

Fort Bend County Libraries seeks a part-time Copy Cataloger to support the library's cataloging operations. The role focuses on copy cataloging of library materials in all formats using OCL and the Polaris ILS, ensuring records meet local standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (MLS preferred), one year of cataloging experience with OCLC, and strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills. Valid Texas driver’s license is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MLS from an American Library Association-accredited school preferred.
• One year cataloging experience using the OCLC bibliographic database.
• Knowledge of MARC records and experience using an integrated library system.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs copy cataloging of library materials in all formats using OCL and the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS).
• Searches OCLC for MARC records, locates and matches records to items needing cataloging, and edits records to conform to local standards.
• May assist in local database management including deleting files and holdings in the library catalog and the OCLC database.
• Processes materials as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
