Qualifications

• Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program; one year of library experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 18 hours toward MLS and two years of library experience.
• MLS must be completed within two years of hire.
• Experience with MARC coding, RDA, DDC, LCSH.
• Experience using OCLC Connexion and SirsiDynix Symphony ILS.
• Cataloging experience with non-English materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging of library materials in all subjects and formats; languages include English, Spanish, and other world languages.
• Assign subject headings and classification numbers using LC headings and Dewey Decimal Classification.
• Update and maintain bibliographic and item records; correct errors; ensure authority control.
• Edit, load, review, and validate vendor-provided cataloging records into the library’s ILS.
• Assist in inventory projects across HPL locations as needed.
• Help develop and maintain the HPL Cataloging Manual of best practices and local policies.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of Microsoft OS, Microsoft Office 365, and SharePoint.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
