Job summary

The Martha Cooper Library in Pima County is hiring a part-time Library Associate to support desk functions, programming, and collections management. The role involves collaboration with the Adult Services Librarian and working across library locations as needed.

Ideal candidate has interest in collections, programming for adults, and serving a diverse community. Travel between library locations is expected within a reasonable timeframe.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3+ years of customer service experience serving the public.
• One year with Pima County in a Library Technical Assistant or similar role as determined by the department head.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates branch compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Prepares and presents educational programs and outreach aligned with strategic directions.
• Coordinates internal and external services such as accounting, payroll, IT, scheduling, personnel, outreach, and programming.
• Supervises, schedules, trains volunteers, and may supervise in absence of senior staff.
• Provides customer service to diverse public including non-English speakers.
• Assist with collection maintenance, material selection, and bibliographic research.
• Participate in meetings and continuing education to incorporate best practices.
• Assist in creating schedules, preparing reports, maintaining records, inventories, processing ILL requests, and handling money transactions.
• Coordinate unit activity with other departments and outside agencies.
• Create and maintain databases, compile data, and produce reports.
• Manage library social media accounts and communicate updates to the public.
