Job summary

Franklin County NC is seeking a Part-Time Library Assistant to support Afternoon Adventures and after-school STEAM activities. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, customer service, and program preparation within an inside library setting.

Responsibilities include circulation desk duties, reader's advisory, fee collection, shelving, catalog assistance, and occasional in-program delivery. A high school diploma and NC driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma supplemented by courses in office practices and/or moderate related clerical or customer service experience.
• Experience in customer service and working with the public preferred.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist at circulation desk with checking books and media in/out, locating materials, and general patron assistance.
• Register patrons for borrower’s cards and explain library services.
• Compute and collect overdue payments for lost/damaged items and related fees.
• Organize and shelve materials, examine condition, and prepare items for repair.
• Instruct patrons in the use of the catalog, computers, and AV equipment; operate printers and scanners.
• Answer telephone, provide information, and transfer calls as needed.
• Assist with preparation of program materials and book displays; may deliver programs.
