Job summary

The Town of Westwood Public Library is seeking a detailed and customer-focused Library Assistant to support Circulation, Information Services and Branch operations at both the Main Library and Islington Branch. The role combines administrative duties with basic technical tasks and customer service in a busy community library.

Qualified candidates have an Associate degree and strong computer skills, with 1–2 years in library automation preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree; strong computer skills.
• Ability to provide effective and friendly service to all library users.
• Strong organizational talents essential.
• One to two year s of experience in library automation procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides courteous, confidential, knowledgeable service to patrons.
• Acquires print and non-print materials using network procedures and cataloging support.
• Performs entry level administrative work including cataloging, affixing barcodes, spine labels and covering books.
• Handles circulation duties including registering and processing library cards.
• Assists patrons at Circulation Desk and Information Desk by phone and in person.
• Provides 1:1 tech help to patrons as needed.
