Job summary

CHARLES COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY in Potomac, MD is seeking an Library Assistant Senior Library Assistant to perform a variety of circulation and customer service duties under the supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor.

The role includes processing Interlibrary Loans, checking out items, handling payments, assisting with library programs, and supporting library operations across branches while maintaining confidentiality and delivering excellent service to patrons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service or related experience.
• Strong cash handling and payment processing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with requests and locate resources.
• Checkouts/ins, issuing cards, renewals, holds, and fee payments.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints appropriately.
• Instruct users on equipment like computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer information.
• Process interlibrary loans and manage ILL emails.
• Assist with shelving, inventory, and program promotion.
• Work at different branches as needed.
