Job summary

The City of Iowa City is seeking an hourly Library Aide to assist with shelving, checkout, and patron services. Under supervision, you will inspect, check in, and pull materials, and help maintain the collection.

This role involves 9–15 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Previous library or customer service experience is preferred; a high school diploma is required and a criminal background check will be conducted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a library or customer service setting preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, check in, sort, shelve, and pull library materials.
• Assist at the Help Desk with circulation, clerical tasks, and patron service.
• Support self-check and manage fines where applicable.
• Work 9–15 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
