Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a versatile Cashier/Stocker capable of leading in the absence of store management. You will help set plan-o-grams, provide top-tier customer service, and perform duties to maximize profitability and minimize losses.

Responsibilities include unloading trucks, stocking shelves, maintaining displays, operating the cash register, handling payments, and keeping the front end tidy and secure. Relocation not offered; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the prescribed process for the store.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes following company processes.
• Stock merchandise; rotate and face shelves and build displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Order zones and drop shipment categories as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety, including trash removal and restroom/stockroom upkeep.
• Greet customers entering the store and manage front-end area.
• Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total purchases; bag merchandise.
• Collect payments and make change.
• Open/close the store under direction of Area Manager; authorize refunds/overrides; manage cash and deposits.
• Maintain cashier accountability, key control and cash security practices.
• Monitor cash levels and drawer pulls; monitor store cameras if applicable.
