Job summary

The Worcester Housing Authority (WHA) invites applicants for the Lead Academic Teacher in the Futures Academy after-school program serving up to 20 children at the Great Brook Valley/Curtis Apartments. This part-time, school-year role runs 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, September 2025 to June 2026, onsite in Worcester, MA.

Qualifications

• Experience as a teacher and/or working with children.
• Ability to pass required criminal background checks.
• Professional, patient, supportive and calm demeanor.
• Good interpersonal communication and ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
• English reading/writing/speaking proficiency; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise after-school Learning Center activities for children.
• Direct and support the assistant teacher and tutors; delegate tasks as needed.
• Support reading and math progress using IXL to track progress.
• Collaborate with Program Coordinator to set goals and measure program impact.
