Job summary

The State of New Hampshire is seeking a Law Enforcement Training Specialist I in Concord to coordinate, supervise, and instruct police, corrections, and probation-parole recruit and in-service training programs for state, county and local agency students, including legal, tactical, and physical training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in police science, criminal justice, education, criminology, or police administration.
  • Five years in criminal justice, with at least one year in a supervisory/management role and one year in developing or instruетting training.
  • Valid driver's license for statewide travel and certification eligibility as a Police or Correctional Officer.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends for training delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Staff for Basic Police and Corrections Training Academies, including overnight stays on rotation.
  • Develop, evaluate and update lesson plans, tests, training manuals, and audiovisual aids to PSTC standards.
  • Supervise officers assisting with recruit and in-service training, monitor performance, and model professional conduct.
  • Plan and monitor investigations of misconduct, review reports, interview witnesses, and gather evidence.
  • Maintain proficiency in law enforcement skills and provide thorough investigations into misconduct.
  • Provide status reports for use by the Law Enforcement Conduct Review Attorney.
  • Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies on training and investigations of misconduct.
  • Identify safety violations and make improvements to safety standards and procedures.
  • Provide coverage for other training specialist positions, as needed.
