Job summary

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mount Vernon is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to perform routine lab tasks under direct supervision. The role may involve phlebotomy, waived testing, and various clerical duties to support the laboratory department.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and offers a flexible schedule with 16 hours per week. Prior experience is not required, and basic life support certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No prior laboratory experience required.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing.

Responsibilities

• Assists customers including answering phones and responding to inquiries.
• Collects, labels, processes and preserves specimens per procedures.
• Enters and processes orders in lab and EMR systems.
• Cleans and maintains lab supplies and work area.
• May perform phlebotomy and waived testing as needed.
• Performs administrative duties including admission activities and insurance verification.
