Job Highlights This is a part‑time variable shift Phlebotomist position at Monroe Clinic Hospital, working a total of 24 hours per week.
Job Summary
Under direct supervision, this role performs routine laboratory tasks, may conduct phlebotomy and/or waived testing, and provides clerical support including reception, admission, and order entry processing.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist customers by answering phones and responding to inquiries.
- Assist laboratory staff with daily operations: collecting, labeling, processing, and preserving specimens.
- Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the laboratory and electronic medical record systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory supplies and work area.
- Update statistical records, label tubes, and schedule processing runs.
- Perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing as needed.
- Identify patients using two identifiers.
- Execute administrative duties such as admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and maintain safe practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near (≤20 inches) and far (≥20 feet) distances; color identification.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication, including alarms and machinery sounds.
- Frequent keyboard use and data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
Required Professional License And/Or Certifications
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
Work Schedule
- Variable hours, primarily between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM.
- Occasional overnight shift coverage for PTO requests (7:30 PM to 5:30 AM).
- Holiday and occasional weekend responsibilities.
