Job summary

Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU) in Saint Clair Shores, MI is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support the clinical laboratory team. The role focuses on specimen accessioning, processing, and testing orders with strict compliance and patient privacy standards.

The position requires organizational skills, ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally, and a strong understanding of EMR/LIS systems. Flexible hours are available within a 20–24 hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office and EMR systems; multitasking and detail orientation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Specimen processing and accessioning: log, label, and process specimens accurately and timely.
• Assist laboratory technicians, manage clerical tasks, maintain lab supplies and dispose of hazardous materials per guidelines.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA and state/federal health and safety rules.
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff and physicians, providing customer service and addressing queries.
