Job summary

Summit Pathology is seeking a Part Time Lab Assistant/Specimen Accessioner in Loveland, CO. The role offers 24–30 hours per week with evening hours, ideal for students seeking flexible, entry-level lab experience.

You will work with the Accessioning Director, Histology, Cytology and Molecular Supervisors, gaining exposure to diverse laboratory processes and collaborating with Summit's pathologists and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; some college coursework preferred.
• Previous data entry or laboratory/healthcare experience is a plus.
• Strong organization, confidentiality, and attention to detail are required.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Receive specimens and enter patient demographics and specimen data.
• Assess specimen quality and prepare for processing or grossing.
• Ensure correct identification and accessioning of numbers and names.
• Perform quality control of requisitions.
• File slides/blocks and maintain filing room.
• Handle tissue processors and related equipment.
• Answer phones and triage calls; maintain etiquette.
• Coordinate with clients to resolve discrepancies on specimens or paperwork.
• Operate multiple computer systems with accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge through continuing education and professional activities.
