Job summary

WSU Tech is seeking a Kitchen Porter/Dishwasher to maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen during lunchtime service. You will wash, sanitize, and store dishes and kitchen tools, enabling the kitchen team to deliver great service to customers.

The role includes assisting with basic food preparation tasks and supporting smooth kitchen operations. This is a part-time position with hourly pay of $8.00, located at the Wichita campus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dishwashing or similar role preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Sort, rinse, and load dirty dishes, utensils, and glassware into the dishwasher.
• Add detergents and cleaning agents as required; monitor temperature for sanitization.
• Inspect, unload, and store clean kitchenware properly.
• Assist with simple food preparation tasks (peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients).
• Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Report equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely service.
