Job summary

Easton Public School District seeks a part-time Kindergarten Paraeducator to support teachers with literacy and math activities, manage classroom routines, and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment for young learners. The role works with the classroom teacher to reinforce instruction, monitor behavior, organize instructional materials, and communicate with families as needed.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 19.5 hours per week, 10-month term; compensation follows the Easton

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or evidence of having passed the Para-Pro Assessment.
  • Experience supporting early literacy and mathematics instruction is preferred.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young children while maintaining consistent expectations.
  • Ability to assist students with varying academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Understand that all work responsibilities are subject to performance goals and/or targets established by the district.
  • Be willing and able to receive constructive feedback to continually improve instructional support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Teacher in maintaining a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes student learning and independence.
  • Support individual students and small groups with literacy, mathematics, writing, social studies, science, and other classroom activities.
  • Reinforce lessons and instructional concepts introduced by the Teacher.
  • Assist with differentiated instruction and intervention activities under the direction of the Teacher.
  • Help monitor student behavior and implement classroom routines and expectations consistently.
  • Supervise students during classroom transitions, arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, specials, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Assist students with classroom technology and instructional materials.
  • Grade or organize student work as directed by the Teacher.
  • Maintain classroom organization, including instructional materials, manipulatives, classroom libraries, bulletin boards, and student supplies.
  • Prepare instructional materials, make copies, laminate materials, assemble learning centers, and support classroom setup.
  • Help maintain student records, portfolios, and classroom documentation as directed.
  • Communicate professionally with Teachers, Specialists, Interventionists, and other school personnel regarding student needs and classroom activities.
  • Assist the Teacher in communicating with families when requested.
  • Maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Demonstrate efficient work habits including punctuality, satisfactory attendance, meeting deadlines, attending team meetings, and maintaining professional standards.
  • Model professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building Principal or supervising Teacher.

Summary

The Kindergarten Paraeducator is responsible for in- and out-of-classroom duties that help Teachers deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction while fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. The paraeducator works collaboratively with the classroom Teacher to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth while helping students build the foundational skills necessary for success in elementary school.
