Job summary

Sticky Fingers Cooking in Austin is seeking a part-time Chef Instructor to lead on-site cooking enrichment for kids in the West Lake/Eanes ISD area. Classes run afternoons, 2–5 pm, 2 days per week, teaching basic kitchen skills and healthy eating.

You’ll create kid-friendly recipes, prep ingredients, review curricula, and guide diverse groups with encouragement. Training is provided and teamwork is supportive.

Qualifications

• Availability at least 2 days a week (Mon-Fri, 2-5 pm)
• Commitment to teaching full sessions (4–12 weeks)
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching)
• Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
• Upon hire, must pass a fingerprint background check
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner
• Punctual and reliable
• No professional cooking experience required
• Experience working with kids is a plus
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required by districts and schools

Responsibilities

• As a part-time chef Instructor, you interact with children 3-18, parents, and school staff each week on-site at various locations, leading hour-long healthy cooking classes.
• You create creative recipes and teach about new ingredients and healthy foods from around the world in an engaging, hands-on way.
• You review weekly curricula and shop for fresh ingredients to prepare instruction, including basic kitchen skills like washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, and nutrition.
• You guide kids in understanding history, geography, and language behind each recipe, fostering healthy eating habits.
• You provide direction and encouragement to help each class create a new recipe, promoting lifelong healthy habits.
