Job summary

Saint Francis Ministries seeks a Job Trainer to provide required support, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and training to developmentally disabled individuals in home and work settings. The role involves on-site supervision, comprehensive training, and active participation in regular staff meetings.

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass drug screen, MVR, MS State Background Check and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance; pass a physical exam & TB skin test.

Job Description

The Job Trainer provides needed support, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and training to developmentally disabled individuals in their home and work environment.

• Mentors the client in developing relationships between employers, co-workers, and community.
• Provide direct, on-site support by breaking down complex work tasks into manageable steps and teaching specific job functions.
• Always keeps clients in eyesight and always supervises them.
• Displays patience with the slow changes of clients and can give simple clear instructions, and communicate in a mode, effective with the individual's learning needs and style.
• Maintains detailed daily IDD service notes and other documentation required by MS Department of Mental Health. Performs all required work as assigned in working with program participants. Ensures daily outcomes are met and follows the Plan of Services and Supports for each program participant.
• Documents all daily notes to reflect what occurred throughout the scheduled work shift.
• Observes and evaluates jobsites to determine if they match the client's skills, interests, and support needs.
• Reports all undesirable behavior, such as stealing, inappropriate sexual conduct, intimidation, disobedience and/or disrespect to Executive Director.
• Ensures that clients complete all assigned job tasks and displays appropriate behavior while working in the community.
• May be required to provide cross coverage for other IDD service areas including but not limited to residential and adult day services
• Actively read the Pass down and MEMO book.
• Attends regular training and staff meetings to ensure knowledge of changes being made.
• Follows training guidelines of regulatory agencies.
• Documents all training performed at the job site to include the location, attendees, and subject content.
• Must interact with individuals who receive Supported Employment services.
• Ensures clients' rights are protected.
• Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
• Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.

• Lifting Requirements of 50 lbs.
• Valid Mississippi Driver's License and Clear Driving Record
