Job summary

Saint Francis Ministries is seeking a Shift Leader in Picayune, MS to ensure quality services for clients within supervised living programs. You will plan and assign daily living activities, supervise staff, and ensure compliance and accurate documentation.

The role involves coordinating program schedules, on-call duties for emergencies, and maintaining safety and order in the facility while promoting residents' independence and engagement.

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Two years' experience with individuals who are developmentally disabled and/or mentally handicapped.
• Must be 21 years or older and able to pass background checks.
• Must pass drug screen, MVR, MS Background Check, physical exam and TB test.
• Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and assign daily living activities for clients residing in the programs.
• Supervise staff to ensure quality of work meets compliance standards.
• Conduct documentation audits and shift reviews to ensure timely service notes and required documentation.
• Supervise residents to engage in meaningful activities and support with ADLs.
• Orient new employees and provide ongoing training; model best practices for resident engagement.
• Provide structure, discipline, and security in meeting client needs.
• Coordinate activities as assigned on the program schedule; adjust schedules for coverage.
• Be on call for emergency transportation and participate in daily planning routines.
• Intervene in crisis situations using the Mandt system and report unusual incidents.
• Ensure facility cleanliness and client rooms; document observations in client files.

Job Description

The Shift Leader will ensure that clients receive quality services from staff.

• Responsible for the day-to-day planning/organizing and assigning of daily living activities for the clients who reside in the Supervised/Supported Living Programs.
• Supervises assigned staff to ensure quality of work meets compliance standards.
• Conducts frequent documentation audits and shift reviews to ensure direct care staff complete service notes and/or other documentation required by MS Department of Mental Health in a timely manner.
• Supervises assigned staff and ensures residents are engaged in meaningful activities and receive support with ADLs to promote independence.
• Orients new employees, provides ongoing training on procedures and protocols, and model best practices for resident engagement
• Provides structure, discipline, and security in meeting the needs of the clients.
• Coordinate activities as assigned on the program schedule.
• Adjust schedules as needed to cover callouts, manage time-off requests, and ensure appropriate staff-to-resident ratios
• Capable of being on call for emergency transportation.
• Participates in the patient's daily planning routine.
• Provides structure, discipline, and security in meeting the needs of the client.
• Serves as a role model and source of feedback to the client.
• Intervenes in crisis situations using the approved Mandt system.
• Reports to work at scheduled times and remains on duty until released by the Residential Supervisor or Director of Nursing
• Daily maintain cleanliness of the facility and client's rooms and chores.
• Documents each significant observation in each client file.
• Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures, attends to any individual who becomes ill.
• Follows training guidelines of regulatory agencies.
• Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
• Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
• Ensures clients' rights are protected.
• Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.

Requirements

• First Aid/CPR
• Prefer two years' experience working with individuals who are developmentally disabled and/or conduct disordered and/or mentally handicapped.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must pass a drug screen, MVR, MS State Background Check and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance Check; pass a physical examination & TB Skin Test
• Lifting Requirements of 50 lbs.
• Valid Mississippi Driver's License and Clear Driving Record.
