Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources in Laurel, MS seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in day programs and/or home settings. You will help with daily activities, provide emotional support, supervise community outings, and support treatment plans with clinical staff.

The position is full-time with on-site work. Applicants should have a High School Diploma; CDL Class C within 60 days; Mississippi driver's license with clean record;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain MS CDL Class C within 60 days.
• Valid Mississippi Driver's License with clean record (no moving violations within 3 years).
• CPR/MANDT certification required or must pass testing.
• Experience with IDD population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with daily living activities (ADLs).
• Provide emotional support and supervision during community outings.
• Support treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff.
• Train participants in skills and daily activities; document progress.
• May provide transportation to activities.
• Eat lunch on site with participants and stay on site during shift.
• Encourage community involvement and relationships.
• Assist with job exploration and train individuals on job duties.

The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in providing assistance with daily activities, providing emotional support, supervising community outings, and supporting treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Experience assisting others with ADLs preferred
• Act as models for appropriate behavior.
• May provide transportation to and from facilities and to and from activities in the community.
• Performs other work-oriented tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Responsible for training participants in skills and conduct daily activities, training, and documentation for IDD day programs.
• Will eat lunch on site with participants and take breaks on site.
• Will remain on site for entire workday, except as authorized by supervisor.
• Demonstrates the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships.
• Assists with job exploration, application, trains individuals on job specific duties, and enhances natural supports in work environment to facilitate individual's independence in the work place.
