Job summary

Congregation Bet Haverim in Atlanta, Georgia seeks a part-time Education Director to oversee the Religious School serving 40-50 students from pre-K to 7th grade and a post-Brit Mitzvah teen program. Sessions run Sundays August–May; some family and Shabbat programming may be required.

The role emphasizes curriculum development, staff supervision, budgeting and community engagement, with collaboration to create meaningful services and learning experiences for children and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Jewish education or related field preferred.
• Experience supervising educators and coordinating programs in a Jewish educational setting.
• Ability to plan, implement and evaluate curriculum with attention to safety and inclusivity.
• Knowledge of Reconstructionist Jewish ritual and practice; strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee school operations: logistics, structure of educational experiences, safety and security.
• Manage human resources: hiring, training, evaluating teachers and madrichim.
• Lead curriculum development and evaluation, incorporating CBH values and anti-semitism/Israel-Palestine updates.
• Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and classroom management; support family engagement.
• Administer education budget, scheduling, registration and enrollment; pursue grants.
• Coordinate with Brit Mitzvah coordinator and Interim Spiritual Leader on services and programs.
• Engage community to recruit students and teachers; communicate with families regularly.
