The SLAPP Back Initiative, a project of First Amendment Watch housed at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, NYU, located at 20 Cooper Square, New York, NY, seeks a part-time managing editor for 20 hours per week.

This on-site, grant-funded one-year position includes NYU employee benefits and is based at the Carter Journalism Institute. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, supervising reporters and researchers, writing progress reports, managing budgets and donor

Qualificações

• Strong familiarity with data journalism and First Amendment issues.
• Excellent research and writing skills and analytical ability.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work with grants.

Responsabilidades

• Manage daily operations of The SLAPP Back Initiative and set enforcement of deadlines for projects.
• Supervise two full-time reporters and two part-time researchers and other contractors.
• Write and file update reports to foundations and donors funding the project.
• Navigate budgets and track contractor invoices and legal research subscriptions.
• Coordinate collaboration with First Amendment legal clinics at universities nationwide.
• Lead fundraising efforts and coordinate with NYU’s development office.
