Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking a Part-Time Research Technician to support invasive species research, data management, and policy implementation. This two-year, grant-funded role focuses on invasion dynamics and biodiversity impacts across the NYBG landscape, including the Thain Family Forest.

The technician will analyze datasets, develop data workflows, and assist the Invasive Species Working Group, delivering outreach materials to regional partners and contributing to climate-change

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ecology, environmental science, botany, conservation or related field.
• Experience organizing and analyzing ecological or other datasets.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis; experience coding (R or Python), working with spatial data, and/or GIS preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate research for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze historical and contemporary datasets from NYBG collections, forests, and management records.
• Develop workflows for data management, statistics, and visualization; align with iMapInvasives where possible.
• Support the Invasive Species Working Group with educational materials and stakeholder engagement.
• Prepare presentations and outreach materials for institutional and regional partners.
