Job description

Purpose and Scope

The PT Intern, Admissions and Records, provides support for New Student Orientation by serving as a presenter, guide, small group leader, and assisting at the Welcome Desk and Enrollment Lab. The intern also provides information to faculty, staff, students, and community members while representing the college in a professional and welcoming manner.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist team members with events, including New Student Orientation, Premier Orientation, and Enrollment Week, by serving as an Orientation Leader. Responsibilities include supporting NSO tours, assisting during registration sessions, helping students navigate iStar functions, obtaining their LSC ID/Library Card, and providing general guidance and support throughout the process.
  2. Work at the Welcome Desk, assisting students with admissions checklist items and directing students to correct departments.
  3. Provide support to new and current students with Apply Texas, registration, and account holds in the enrollment lab.
  4. Process various registration and records‑related forms, including transcripts, AP scores, TSI, SAT, and ACT scores.
  5. Provide support for calling campaigns and other recruitment or student initiatives.
  6. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with a wide variety of students from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Must be results‑oriented and self‑motivated.
Physical Abilities

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above‑average agility and dexterity.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60.
