Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking a Part‑time Intern, Outreach at LSC‑CyFair. The role provides administrative and operational support on campus, with occasional evening and weekend hours, across departments such as Communications, Outreach & Engagement, and more.

The intern will assist with scheduling, data entry, event coordination, and customer support, while contributing to outreach efforts and campus activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at LSC‑CyFair for Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing.

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and coordinating correspondence.
  • May input, update, and maintain data in organizational databases and calendars.
  • Provides support to customers, including answering queries and providing information in person or electronically.
  • Assists with planning, execution, and completion of initiatives and events, including presentations and preparing materials.
  • Provides data entry and customer service support within designated departments such as Finance and OTS.
  • May assist Recruitment efforts such as making phone calls, events, and creating outreach materials.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

The Intern supports the assigned department by performing task‑oriented duties while providing administrative and operational support on campus. Divisions may include but are not limited to Communications, Outreach & Engagement; Office of Technology Services; Student Services; Administrative Services; Legal Services; Human Resources; and academic divisions. Frequent evening and weekend hours may be required.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Performs administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and coordinating correspondence
  2. May input, update, and maintain data in organizational databases and calendars ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information
  3. Provides support to customers, if applicable, including answering queries and providing information by way of in‑person or electronic communications, campus tours, or at events on or off campus
  4. Assists with the planning, execution, and completion of initiatives and events, which may include presentations, conducting research, compiling data, and preparing materials and reports
  5. Provides data entry and customer service support within designated departments such as Finance and OTS
  6. May assist the Communications office with Recruitment efforts such as making phone calls, events, maintaining outreach spreadsheets, creating social media posts and/or marketing materials
  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with office software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent
  • May require excellent technical knowledge of network, PC Hardware, and software
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in performing tasks
  • Ability to work well within a diverse population as well as autonomously
  • Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics and outcomes
  • Ability to handle sensitive information
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism in conduct, integrity, punctuality, and adherence to workplace expectations and policies
Physical Abilities

The work is both sedentary with the employee sitting comfortably to do the work and can also require long periods of standing and lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds. May be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No additional special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed inside and outdoors, with exposure to dust, dirt, etc
Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must be enrolled at LSC‑CyFair a minimum of six hours college credit or pursuing a certificate for the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $16.33
