Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking part-time adjunct faculty in the Department of Focused Inquiry to teach UNIV 111, 112, and/or 200. The role focuses on a three-semester sequence fostering integrative thinking, communication skills, and ethical reasoning.

Adjuncts should be available for office hours and electronic communication. A master’s degree is required, with preference for those having multiple years of college teaching in a general education setting.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching interdisciplinary general education courses with emphasis on written and oral communication and critical thinking.
• Evidence of excellence in college-level teaching is required.
• At least three years of college teaching experience in a general education curriculum is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach UNIV 111, 112, and/or 200, a three-semester sequence.
• Maintain office hours outside of class (one hour per 3-hour class).
• Respond to student inquiries via email and other communications.
