Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) seeks part-time adjunct faculty to teach Focused Inquiry courses on an as-needed basis. Primary teaching involves UNIV 111, 112, and/or 200 in a learner-centered sequence, with emphasis on written and oral communication, critical thinking, and collaborative learning.

Applicants must have a master’s degree and demonstrated college-teaching excellence, plus at least three years’ experience in a general education setting.

Qualifications

• Evidence of excellence in college-level teaching.
• At least three years of college teaching experience in a general education curriculum is preferred.
• Interdisciplinary teaching and general education course experience are valued.

Responsibilities

• Teach UNIV 111, 112 and/or 200 as part of a three-semester sequence.
• Be available to students outside of class for office hours and via email.
• Contribute to shared curricula and ensure learning objectives are met across sections.
• Participate in department activities and advising as needed.
