Job summary

Blinn College District in Brenham seeks a Part-Time Instructor for Vocational Nursing to support the Brenham Campus. The instructor may teach an entire course each semester or substitute for full-time faculty as needed, under Texas Board of Nursing guidelines.

Responsibilities include classroom instruction, student assessment, maintenance of records, and collaboration with clinical sites. A current Texas RN license and a minimum of three years nursing experience are required.

Qualifications

• RN with at least three years of varied nursing experience since graduation from school.
• Evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform classroom instruction using various methods and strategies including lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and online or web-enhanced instruction.
• Evaluate students in psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains.
• Maintain accurate student records in accordance with program and college policies.
• Maintain evaluations in clinical and classroom laboratory for nursing skills, attendance records, and grade entries.
• Create, develop and revise course materials and assess course outcomes.
• Supervise clinical competency based on the nursing clinical evaluation tool set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Establish and maintain a liaison between the clinical site and faculty.
• Keep current with program policies and procedures and participate in continuing education for instructional skills.

Job Summary

The Vocational Nursing Program is seeking qualified individuals that may be assigned an entire course on a semester basis or be utilized on an as-needed basis to substitute for full-time faculty in specific sections of a course(s). Within the guidelines of the Texas Board of Nursing and Blinn College, the faculty shall understand and be willing to promote and support the mission and goals of Blinn College and the Vocational Nursing Program. The faculty shall perform administrative duties, classroom/laboratory instruction, and other duties as assigned. The faculty will consist of a registered nurse who has graduated from an accredited program and is in “good standing” with the Texas Board of Nursing.

Principal Accountabilities

1. 1. Perform classroom instruction using various methods and strategies including, but not limited to, the use of lectures/discussion, demonstration/performance, multi-media presentations, on-line, and web-enhanced instruction.
2. 2. Evaluation of students in areas of psychomotor, cognitive and affective domains.
3. 3. Faculty is responsible for maintaining accurate student records in accordance to program and college policies.
4. 4. Maintenance of evaluations in clinical and classroom laboratory for nursing skills, attendance records, incidence/counseling records, and grade entries.
5. 5. Create, develop and revise course materials and maintain assessment on course outcomes.
6. 6. Supervise clinical competency based on the nursing clinical evaluation tool set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing.
7. 7. Establishes and maintains a liaison between the clinical site and faculty.
8. 8. Understands, adheres, and maintains current knowledge of the program’s policies and procedures.
9. 9. Maintains current knowledge of the profession by participating in continuing education for enhancement of instructional and practical skills.
10. 10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Required Degree, License or Certifications

Required: RN with at least three (3) years of varied nursing experience since graduation from school.

Minimum Competencies

Evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Required: Current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the vocational nursing curriculum and instructional methodology and techniques; Knowledge of the Texas administrative code part 11, chapter 214, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education.
