Job summary

Kilgore College, through the Workforce Development and Continuing Education department in Kilgore, TX, seeks a part-time CDL instructor to deliver short-term training for obtaining a Class A license. Courses may run day, evening, or weekends and involve curriculum development and compliance with applicable laws.

Ideal candidates hold a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, five years of driving experience, and preferably an associate degree with training experience.

Qualifications

• Current Class A CDL with tanker endorsement and at least five years of truck driving experience.
• Prefer associate’s degree and training experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; have effective presentation and computer skills; be well organized and thorough; work with little supervision; demonstrate patience and teaching ability.

Job description

Position Details:

The Kilgore College Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) department provides life-long learning opportunities for adults in the community. This is a part time position with instruction times varying depending on the course of instruction. Part time instructor are added to the instructor pool and will instruct on a course by course basis as needed.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for instructing short term training in day-time, evening or weekend courses pertaining to obtaining a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. The specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: write/review course descriptions and learning outcomes, build/supplement curriculum as needed, provide instruction and ensure all elements of training are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement and at least five years of truck driving experience. The applicant will preferably possess a minimum of an associate’s degree and have training experience. Applicant must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; have effective presentation and computer skills; be well organized and thorough; be able to work well with little supervision; demonstrate patience, teaching ability and listening and be able to deal professionally and courteously with a diverse student and employee population.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment.
