North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for the English Department for fall 2026. This role requires teaching First-Year Composition, Humanities, and Creative Writing courses, both online and face-to-face. Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in English or a related field and ideally have 1–3 years of teaching experience.

This is a repost. Previous applicants need not re-apply for this temporary position. The Department of English invites applications for Part-Time Instructors for fall 2026. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach English courses. The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced level courses in the Department of English. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching face-to-face and/or online First-Year Composition (FYC)/Humanities/Creative Writing courses, attending training and/or review sessions, and providing academic advising of students. Additional duties may include supporting student organizations, participating in program development and assessment. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.
The English faculty comprises scholars and teachers who focus on helping students become critical thinkers and effective communicators in a diverse world. The department offers an undergraduate major and minor, and one graduate degree (M.A.). Through the College of Education, a M.A.T. in English Education is also available. Students pursuing a B.A. in English take core courses and, optionally, a concentration in African-American Literature, Creative Writing, English Literature, or Technical Writing. A B.S. in Undergraduate Teaching (Secondary Education) is offered. Courses address a range of topics from literary surveys to specialized subjects such as film, science fiction, and hip-hop culture.
