Job summary

Tulsa Tech is seeking a Part-time Instructor to teach American Mahjong for Beginners at our Tulsa campus. Classes run one evening per week for six weeks, with flexibility to accommodate spring, summer, and fall schedules.

Ideal candidates will be familiar with Mahjong for both hobby and serious play and have experience teaching adults. The role focuses on engaging, competency-based instruction and maintaining accurate attendance and progress records.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Mahjong as a hobby and for serious game play.
• Experience teaching adults is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the subject matter and instructor responsibilities.
• Instruct students using a competency-based curriculum with current instructional strategies.
• Maintain classroom management to ensure a productive learning environment.
• Keep up-to-date records of attendance, progress, and grades as required by policy.
• Ensure syllabus, supply list, and lesson plans are current before each class.
• Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication with students and staff.
• Engage in professional development opportunities as required by the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience in the appropriate subject matter.
• Instruct students in competency-based program curriculum using current instructional strategies appropriate to the subject matter to assure highest quality classroom instruction.
• Effectively manage the classroom to create an optimal learning environment.
• Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by district policy and certification/regulatory agencies.
• Ensure syllabus, supply list and lesson plans are current prior to each class taught.
• Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills and professionalism (i.e. – prepared, reliable, responsible, punctual, etc.)
• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of Tulsa Tech's ACD program.
• Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the ACD department.
• Perform all other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
