Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to support classroom teachers and interventionists in reading, writing, and math. The role involves assisting with instruction, supervising students, and translating when needed within the school setting.

Under direct supervision, the selected candidate will reinforce skills, assist with assessments, and participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be preferred at some sites
• Ability to work with students and staff; good verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work in close proximity with assigned teacher and specific students
• Assist students, individually or in groups, to reinforce skills and/or oversee learning activities
• Follow specific functions as outlined in a written plan to supplement classroom instruction
• Assist with classroom computer instruction
• Assist with translation when necessary
• Participate in professional development to enhance ability to support student achievement
• Participate as a stakeholder in school improvement initiatives
• Complete training to assist in the administration and scoring of assessments
• Regular and on-time attendance required
• Perform other related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
